| Founded
as a five and dime store by John T. and Beth B. Hurst in 1946, Hurst Variety
Store operated successfully for 10 years in Panguitch, Utah. After relocating
to St George in 1957, Beth Hurst became sole owner and manager until 1968,
when J. Ross Hurst, her oldest son, became actively involved in management.
Expansion followed and the store moved from One North Main to its present
location in 1973. Hurst Stores incorporated as a Utah corporation in 1977.
In
1976 Hurst’s joined Ace Hardware Corporation; a hardware co-op consisting
of over 5000 independently owned and operated hardware stores across the
nation. Today Hurst Stores operates Ace Stores throughout the state of
Utah. Each store is unique and filled with great products. Many of our
locations are not only terrific Ace stores but you’ll find a large
selection of Sporting Goods, Fabrics and House wares. Beth Hurst would
always say, “I can’t sell from an empty wagon”.
The
Hurst Stores Mission Statement is simple:
“Give our customers a shopping experience that makes them
want to return.”
